The two-day NHL Draft starts on Friday and the league changed up the draft format as teams won't make their picks in person and will instead make their selections virtually like they did during the COVID years.

Winnipeg's Jennifer Botterill will forever be enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame. Botterill and seven others were officially elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame on Tuesday. The Winnipeg-born Duncan Keith, Alexander Mogilny, Joe Thornton, Zdeno Chara, and Brianna Decker were also chosen in the player category. Jack Parker and Daniele Sauvageau were elected to the hall as builders. Botterill won three Olympic gold medals and one silver and also captured five more golds at the World Championship.

Another Winnipeg Jets player is headed across the pond to continue their hockey career. Russia's Traktor Chelyabinsk of the Kontinental Hockey League announced the signing of Jets goalie Chris Driedger to a one-year contract. The Winnipeg product was set to become an unrestricted free agent next month after being acquired at the trade deadline from the Florida Panthers for fellow netminder Kaapo Kahkonen. The 31-year-old Driedger just completed a one-year contract for $795,000.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers made a number of moves as they returned to the practice field for the first time since their season-opening victory. The Bombers released one of their big free agent signings in receiver Reggie White Jr. and signed long snapper Ian Leroux to the practice roster. White was only on the practice squad after not making the initial 45-man roster out of training camp. Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck is the first Winnipeg Jets player to ever win the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player to his team. Hellebuyck pulled off the rare double, winning both the Hart and Vezina trophies as the league's top goaltender on Thursday. Hellebuyck is just the eighth goalie and the first since Carey Price in 2015 to win the MVP award and only four other goalies have won both in the same season.
