For the second time in just over a week, a member of the Winnipeg Jets organization has left the club to play in Europe. Forward Axel Jonsson-Fjällby recently signed in Sweden, and now Rasmus Kupari is also headed back overseas. HC Lugano of Switzerland's National League announced they've signed Kupari to a two-year contract. The 25-year-old product of Finland spent parts of two seasons with the Jets after being acquired from the Los Angeles Kings in the Pierre-Luc Dubois trade.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are mourning the death of a family member of one of their all-time legends. The Bombers revealed on Monday night that the oldest son of hall of famer Milt Stegall, Chase Stegall, died suddenly Monday. Chase was a sophomore soccer player at DePaul University. "We are heartbroken to learn of the sudden and tragic passing of Chase Stegall, beloved son of Blue Bombers legend Milt Stegall," said Winnipeg Football Club president and CEO Wade Miller in a statement.

In a bit of a surprising move, the Winnipeg Sea Bears released guard Mason Bourcier just a day after suffering a third straight defeat. The Sea Bears cut ties with Bourcier effective immediately after the fourth-year professional was scratched from their lineup in Wednesday's loss to the Vancouver Bandits. In making the announcement, Sea Bears general manager and head coach Mike Taylor said they mutually agreed to the split.

Former Manitoba Bisons football head coach Brian Dobie leads this year's list of inductees for the Football Manitoba Hall of Fame. The longtime Bisons coach is one of eight individuals to be enshrined as part of the class of 2025. Dobie retired from the Herd late last year after coaching the team for 29 years. He led the Bisons to the 2007 Vanier Cup as well as three Canada West conference titles.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are going to have to wait for the services of one of their top picks in the recent CFL Draft. The NFL’s Green Bay Packers signed quarterback Taylor Elgersma to a rookie contract on Monday after he attended their rookie mini-camp. The Bombers just selected Elgersma in the second round of the draft at 18th overall two weeks ago. “There were a lot of emotions,” Elgersma told LaurierAthletics.com “This was a lot of hard work and a long journey to get to this.
