Free from an autobiographical or narrative format that would encourage an epic spun out from a punctum, Christina Sharpe’s newest book, Ordinary Notes, casts another distinct shape. Sharpe’s 248 notes pile up to form a pointed, sculptural thesis on the destabilized life of the Black diaspora. By this I mean that the notes themselves have an uneven nature to them that texture and construct the book.
