After exiting bankruptcy just last year, JoAnn Stores has filed Chapter 11 again, and it looks like this time they’re done. Gordon Brothers (the company currently liquidating Big Lots and some years back A.C. Moore) is the “stalking horse,” which means the company is open to other bidders, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. If no others come along in the next 60 days, they will begin going out of business sales at all locations.

I’ve been meaning to go on a personal field trip to a Pizza Hut Classic ever since I saw this blog post about them two years ago. It’s Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) on November 2, and, when you live in the American Southwest, beautiful ofrendas (altars) are everywhere. They are in front of people’s homes, part of Halloween and fall displays, in the halls of schools and libraries, courtyards of public buildings and churches, and even in restaurants and theatres.

This spooky month, let’s do some easy DIYs based on the style trends creeping up into a lot of Halloween merchandise, starting with the retro”dark ride” look. This was also a trend from the groovy black light era that featured poster art and other items to bring out the effect. Dark rides have been around since the 1800s, with small attractions like haunted train rides, tunnels of love, and more.
