The SEC’s top two teams finally get to settle things on the field. Oklahoma and Texas A&M will play for the SEC Tournament title, with the winner potentially taking home the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament as well. The top-seeded Sooners had to erase a 6-1 deficit on Friday, but Gabbie Garcia walked off Arkansas to punch OU’s ticket to the title game. The 2-seeded Aggies demolished Texas to bank their second run rule victory of the tournament.

Oklahoma raked in a handful of SEC awards following the program’s first year in the league. Patty Gasso was voted SEC Coach of the Year following the Sooners capturing the conference’s regular season title. OU ace Sam Landry was also honored, as she was voted the SEC Newcomer of the Year. Oklahoma responded to a series defeat at the hands of Florida by dumping LSU out of the SEC Tournament to set a meeting with 5-seeded Arkansas. The top-seeded Sooners got an outstanding performance from Sam Landry in the circle and paired it with steady showings from veterans in the lineup to take down the 9-seeded Tigers 4-1. “They were tough,” OU coach Patty Gasso told the SEC Network desk following Thursday’s win.

Oklahoma ace Sam Landry didn’t allow a hit for six innings, but her start against LSU almost came undone. With the top-seeded Sooners leading 4-0 in the program’s SEC Tournament debut, Landry allowed a pair of singles and a walk to load the bases for Tiger slugger Torri Edwards. Edwards’ 19th homer would have tied the game, but instead she flew out and plated one run on a sacrifice fly.
