    CLEANUP DAYSOLEDAD — City of Soledad and other organizations have planned a Reuse, Recycle and Cleanup Day on Saturday, May 31, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Soledad High School. Soledad residents can dispose of such items as general garbage, electronics, TVs, computers, metal appliances and metal and steel items, including refrigerators and freezers, for free. No furniture or yard waste will be accepted.

    KING CITY — City Manager Steve Adams announced last week that Robert “Bob” Masterson has been appointed as King City’s next chief of police. Masterson will assume the role on June 27, succeeding Chief James Hunt, who will retire on June 26. Masterson is returning to a familiar role, having previously served as the city’s police chief from 2016 to 2020.

    RESURFACING PROJECTKING CITY — King City Tennis Courts are now closed for renovation. Resurfacing of the courts located adjacent to the King City Golf Course began last week and is anticipated to be completed within three weeks. It will include resurfacing of all the courts, and one court will be converted to four new pickleball courts. A separate project to add a pedestrian access ramp to the facility will be added later in association with improvements to the Golf Course.
