Grand Forks man seriously hurt in crash in Barnes County

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (KFGO) – A 45-year-old Grand Forks man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in eastern Barnes County Sunday evening. The highway patrol says the man was driving south on Highway 32 and lost control of his vehicle when it hit a patch of ice. The vehicle went off the road and into the ditch before hitting a tree. The man was taken from the scene by Barnes County Ambulance before being flown to a Fargo hospital by Sanford AirMed.
Defense asks court to sentence Holmberg to time served, home detention

FARGO (KFGO) – The defense attorney for Ray Holmberg, the former North Dakota state senator who pleaded guilty to traveling overseas to have sex with children, is asking the government to give his client a sentence lower than federal guidelines call for. Citing US Probation and Pretrial Services, Mark Friese says at 81, Holmberg’s age and poor health are among the reasons to give him a lower sentence.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO) – The University of North Dakota Police Department has identified the owner of a pickup involved in a hit-and-run. UND Police were looking for the owner after the pickup struck an elementary-age child near 39th Street and 6th Avenue N. in Grand Forks. The Department says the investigation is still active and ongoing and anyone who witnessed the crash should contact UND Police.
Fire causes significant damage to south Fargo apartment unit

FARGO (KFGO) – No one was hurt, but residents of an apartment unit were displaced after a kitchen fire in south Fargo Monday night. The Fargo Fire Department says crews responded to the apartment complex at 2551 Villa Drive S at 9:48 p.m. where the fire started in a second-floor unit. Firefighters were able to put out the fire before it spread, but the unit sustained significant damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation and a damage estimate isn’t available yet.
Man pleads guilty to fleeing from West Fargo Police

FARGO (KFGO) – A Fargo man who fled from West Fargo Police at high speed last summer will spend 28 days in jail. Last June, an officer tried to make a traffic stop after seeing Isaac Teegarden quickly accelerate and screech the tires of his vehicle on Main Avenue. Teegarden drove away from the officer at speeds over 100 miles per hour.
EV charger fire in Scheels All Sports parking lot considered suspicious

FARGO (KFGO/AP) – Firefighters were called to an electrical box fire in the parking lot at Scheels All Sports on 45th Street S. around 3:15 a.m. Friday. “When we arrived, we actually found fire in the wood chips around the EV chargers in the southeast corner of the parking lot,” Battalion Chief Joe Mangin said. “The fire, right now, is being investigated as suspicious. There was a gas can found on the boulevard.
No damage or injuries after sugar beets overheat in dryer at beet plant

Minn Dak Farmers Cooperative Plant WAHPETON, N.D. (KFGO) – No one was hurt and nothing was damaged after a dryer fire at Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative north of Wahpeton Thursday night. The Richland County Sheriff’s Office says sugar beets in the dryer overheated and began to smoke and smolder. When deputies arrived around 9:20 p.m., the Dwight Fire Department was already on -scene and had the fire contained.
Williston woman charged with theft, accused of stealing over $1.4M worth of copper wire

WILLISTON, N.D. (KFGO) – A western North Dakota woman is charged with stealing over $1.4 million worth of copper from her employer. According to court records, Jonna Stroh worked in sales for Fargo-based Dakota Supply Group’s Williston location and was a certified forklift operator. Between July and August of last year, Stroh is accused of loading spools of copper wire onto a trailer and taking them without permission.
Woman injured in rollover crash near Casselton

CASSELTON, N.D. (KFGO) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating a rollover crash on I-94 that seriously injured a 62-year-old West Fargo woman. The crash happened around 4 p.m. Tuesday two miles east of Casselton. The Highway Patrol says the woman was westbound when her SUV went into the median. The woman overcorrected and the SUV went back onto the Interstate where it rolled across both lanes and into the ditch.
2 arrested after crash in north Fargo

FARGO (KFGO) – Two Fargo men are in jail after a crash in north Fargo overnight. Fargo Police Lt. Shane Aberle says officers responded to Cherry Lane and 32nd Avenue N. where a vehicle started on fire after crashing into two parked cars. The officers determined 30-year-old Dengdit Geu was driving the vehicle. He was arrested for driving under the influence. Geu’s passenger, 25-year-old Chol John was arrested for outstanding warrants. Both men were taken to the Cass County jail.
