A San Miguel County man is charged with child abuse and other felonies for allegedly striking his girlfriend and holding her and two children against their will inside a travel trailer. Police arrested 45-year-old Luke Amos Lucero on May 17 after responding to a property off Highway 84 in rural San Miguel County, near Tecolotito.
Lawsuit alleges Mora County mine harms acequia, burn scar floodplain

A Pecos woman is facing charges for a crash that injured two New Mexico Department of Transportation workers along a stretch of Interstate 25 between Ribera and Bernal. Twenty-year-old Mistidawn Roybal is charged with one felony count of great bodily injury by vehicle for allegedly striking a construction barrel before hitting two workers just before 10:30 a.m. on Monday.

An Albuquerque woman is facing criminal charges for allegedly trafficking drugs in Las Vegas and for her role in an alleged scheme to deliver drugs to someone inside the San Miguel County Detention Center. Prosecutors this week charged 29-year-old Elizabeth N. Guevara with seven felony counts after investigators with the Region IV Narcotics Task Force monitored phone calls between her and 42-year-old Richard A. Flores, who is currently incarcerated at SMCDC on a probation violation.

Prosecutors last week charged 30-year-old Tommy J. Apodaca and 34-year-old Josette V. Martin, alleging in an affidavit that Martin and Apodaca concocted a plan for Apodaca to get arrested on purpose so he could sneak packages of narcotics into the jail.
Man convicted for exposing himself to 6-year-old girl

A judge last week convicted a man on a felony count of aggravated indecent exposure in a 2023 case involving a 6-year-old girl. District Court Judge Michael Aragon on April 3 convicted 58-year-old Louie E. Mares after finding that he made lewd comments to a 6-year-old girl outside her Las Vegas home and then unzipped his pants and exposed his genitals. Las Vegas police initially responded in November 2023 to a call in the 2700 block of Seventh Street about an intoxicated man with blood on his face.
