It had been just 24 hours since Crescenta Valley were relegated to the third-place game of the Pacific League softball tournament following a matchup that saw the Falcons struggle to string together hits all game long. All the mistakes were quickly forgotten and fixed on Wednesday, May 7, as Crescenta Valley defeated Muir 11-0 in five innings at Arcadia High School to finish third in the Pacific League softball tournament.

Any chance to get more reps before the CIF Southern Section playoffs is always a plus. Burroughs softball kept its first game in the Pacific League softball tournament against Muir much closer than it would have liked, but the results were all the same. It took six innings for the Bears to get their first run on the board, but it also took just one inning for them to win the game.

The grand prize at the end of the season is winning a CIF Southern Section championship. Fortunately for Pacific League softball teams, there is another prize in store before the big one. The Pacific League softball tournament provides another opportunity for the top four teams in the league to compete for a title. Things kicked off as Arcadia took on Crescenta Valley on Tuesday, May 6, at Arcadia High School. The Falcons controlled most of the game, but the Apaches stayed resilient and won 4-2.

St. Francis baseball came into the 2025 season trying to relive its postseason success from the previous season. Things started great as the Golden Knights won six of their first eight games. Unfortunately, things have gone south since, and the Golden Knights currently sit at the bottom of the Mission League. The Golden Knights tried to turn their fortunes around, but lost to Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 1-0 on Monday, May 5, at Notre Dame High School.

The wait was worth it. The CIF Southern Section Division 1 first-round game between St. Francis and Mira Costa was delayed due to lightning, but it only created more suspense for what was to come. Everything was on the line in the CIF opener as the Golden Knights took on the Mustangs on Thursday, May 1, at St. Francis High School. The Golden Knights’ hard-fought efforts in the first half quickly went south as the Mustangs gained all the momentum.
