Trumpism in the US Foreign Policy
Trumpism is a term that gained prominence during Donald Trump's presidential campaign in 2016 and came to be used widely throughout his presidency from 2017 to 2021 and beyond. It is a curious blend of cultural conservatism, right-wing populism, aggressive nationalism, economic protectionism, transactional diplomacy, and certain authoritarian tendencies, all shaped into a political discourse by Trump and his supporters in the United States.

"May your rulers rule long!" sniggered Bangladesh.

The motivation to write this article came from Ram Madhav's writeup in The Indian Express on August 10, 2024- "A Time for Healing". The sum and substance of the article, as given in the newspaper, is "Muhammad Yunus must work on building a modern, secular Bangladesh." The first thought that came to my mind was the saying, "Doctor, heal yourself." Ram Madhav has to ask himself whether his organisation, the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS), believes in secularism.

I am unsure if Prime Minister Narendra Modi is aware of former Defence Minister VK Krishna Menon's remarkable eight-hour speech at the United Nations General Assembly. If he knew, Modi might have attempted to surpass that record in one of the many forums available to him. At the Red Fort, he has already set new standards, surpassing the records of all previous prime ministers.
Menon's ability to speak at length on a topic as complex as Kashmir always intrigued me.

The upsurge in Bangladesh has been a significant phenomenon, which not only shook that country to the core but also saw a lot of fake news and Islamophobia getting intensified in India. Sheikh Hasina has been ruling Bangladesh with an iron hand for the last fifteen years, totally suppressing the opposition to the extent of imprisoning or imposing house arrest on the prominent opposition leaders.
