(KRDO) – Colorado homeowners struggling to find affordable coverage – or in some cases, coverage at all – due to the state's large wildfire and hail risks will now have a new last-resort option for support. The Colorado Fair Access to Insurance Requirements (FAIR) Plan went live on Thursday. The new state program will offer limited property insurance coverage to homeowners in high-risk areas who have been denied by at least three private insurers.

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) – A portion of southbound South Academy Boulevard is closed this morning as crews work to repair a water main break, Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) confirmed Thursday morning. The road will be closed between Hancock Expressway and Jetwing Drive. Northbound traffic will also be reduced to one lane. CSU said it expects the lanes to reopen Thursday afternoon.

Jared Polis announced that Swisspod – a company pioneering high-speed, emission-free hyperloop transportation – is expanding to Colorado Springs, with plans for a new manufacturing facility in the works. Southern Colorado is already home to the world’s largest hyperloop test site. In Pueblo, a full-scale infrastructure built by Swisspod is already in place to test travel pods capable of reaching speeds over 600 miles per hour.
