    MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Nearly five years have passed since Sheriff John “Big John” Williams was shot and killed outside a Lowndes Country gas station. Investigators say William Chase Johnson pulled the trigger. Johnson appeared in a Macon County courtroom for a pretrial conference Wednesday. Last year, the judge granted a change of venue to ensure Johnson gets a fair trial. The judge met with both sides to make sure they are ready for the trial to begin on Oct. 7.
