    LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - The spring heat is on across Southern Nevada this week. Wednesday is the hottest day of the stretch, with our first 90° day of 2025 in the forecast this afternoon. If it feels like we’re talking about the 90s a little early this year, you’re not imagining it. High temperatures in the mid-70s are more typical in late March. The average first 90° of the year in Las Vegas is April 15th. The earliest we’ve seen a 90° day in past years was on March 13th, 2007.

    LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - The Excessive Heat Warning continues through Friday evening, with high temperatures around the Las Vegas Valley in the 104° to 108° range. Some more moisture moves into Southern Nevada this weekend, bringing the chance for pop-up thunderstorms with gusty outflow wind. Along with the heat on Friday, wildfire smoke is bringing hazy skies around Southern Nevada. Several wildfires are burning to our north, bringing moderate air quality around Southern Nevada.

    LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - On June 20, 2024 at 6:35 a.m., the temperature was 79° at Reid International Airport. That was the last time the temperature officially dropped below 80° in Las Vegas. Since Las Vegas weather records started in 1937, this is the longest stretch the city has stayed at or above the 80° mark. As of August 14th, we’re now at 55 days in a row without seeing a temperature below 80°.

    Coming off the hottest June and July on record in Las Vegas, we’re rolling into August with more heat and humidity. Thunderstorm chances pick up on Friday with hotter weather on the way this weekend. With increasing humidity on Friday, high temperatures will pull back a few degrees. 104° is the forecast high in Las Vegas with an increasing chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms. Thunderstorm chances will be lower this weekend with temperatures on the rise.

    The monsoon is in full swing with thunderstorms picking up around Southern Nevada this afternoon. Heavy downpours, gusty wind, and lightning will be off and on through sunset tonight. Heavy downpours have prompted a Flash Flood Warning for the East Las Vegas Valley through 4:15 p.m. Heavy downpours around Henderson and the far east valley are bringing flash flooding. Always remember to turn around, don’t drown when it comes to flooded roads.
