    LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Just about a week into the month and Las Vegas has already seen the wettest May on record for the valley. Rain reached 1.44 inches of rain at Harry Reid International Airport. This is highly unusual for May, our second driest month on average in Las Vegas. The average rainfall in May is 0.07 inches. Now that we’re heading into the year’s hottest months, the thunderstorms that rolled through the Las Vegas Valley may have reminded you of monsoon season.

    It’s Monday, but we’ve already got our eye on First Alert Weather Days returning this weekend. A cold storm moves in with more wind, lower temperatures, and the chance of showers. Before we get into the weekend, it will be smooth sailing for most of the week. Skies will be mostly sunny on Tuesday with a forecast high of 82°. Some more clouds will pass through on Wednesday, and the breeze will return. Wind gusts will be in the 15-25 mph range, and high temperatures will return to the mid-80s.

    Saturday will be the windier day this weekend, with gusts in the 30-40 mph range around the Las Vegas Valley. Sunday will stay breezy, with high temperatures in the low 70s. This afternoon, wind gusts around the Las Vegas Valley are in the 30-40 mph range. A Lake Wind Advisory remains in effect for Lake Mead and Lake Mohave until 8 p.m., with 1 to 3-foot waves on the water. After highs in the low 80s Friday afternoon, overnight low temperatures fall back into the 50s.

    LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - The spring heat is on across Southern Nevada this week. Wednesday is the hottest day of the stretch, with our first 90° day of 2025 in the forecast this afternoon. If it feels like we’re talking about the 90s a little early this year, you’re not imagining it. High temperatures in the mid-70s are more typical in late March. The average first 90° of the year in Las Vegas is April 15th. The earliest we’ve seen a 90° day in past years was on March 13th, 2007.

    LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - The Excessive Heat Warning continues through Friday evening, with high temperatures around the Las Vegas Valley in the 104° to 108° range. Some more moisture moves into Southern Nevada this weekend, bringing the chance for pop-up thunderstorms with gusty outflow wind. Along with the heat on Friday, wildfire smoke is bringing hazy skies around Southern Nevada. Several wildfires are burning to our north, bringing moderate air quality around Southern Nevada.
