SPRINGFIELD, Fla. (WMBB) – Just days after naming Tony Davis as the new head boys basketball coach, Rutherford High School has announced his successor on the girls side. The school didn’t have to look far, promoting assistant coach Glenn Bryant to lead the Lady Rams. Davis named Rutherford AD, boys basketball coach Bryant previously served under Davis, who credited him as a key contributor to the team’s success. Rutherford reached its fourth consecutive regional final this past season.

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) – Deane Bozeman High School has officially named Bryan Normand as its next head baseball coach, succeeding legendary coach Jeff Patton. Normand, who most recently served as an assistant coach at Arnold High School, brings more than two decades of coaching experience to the Bucks. A Louisiana native, he moved to Bay County in 2007 and has held coaching positions at Arnold, North Bay Haven, and Liberty County.

(WMBB) — Several coaches and booster club members at North Bay Haven Charter Academy are speaking out in support of Athletic Director Steve Gillispie after news of his non-renewal earlier this week. The coaches and booster members sent a petition urging the Bay Haven Schools, Inc. Board of Directors to reconsider the decision to remove Gillispie as AD. The petition was signed by eight coaches and two booster club members.

The signing event took place at Local 115 Sports Bar, where Freeport’s Abby Bengston inked her commitment to the United States Sports Academy. Arnold High School teammates Travis Novak and Lincoln Guynn will remain teammates in college, both committing to Enterprise State Community College.

SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) — Seacoast Collegiate senior Gip Crye has signed with Northwestern University, a program currently ranked among the top 20 college swim teams in the nation. The Wildcats are also known as the “Ivy League of the Big Ten,” boasting both athletic and academic excellence. Crye has already earned his Associate of Arts degree from Northwest Florida State College and is set to graduate high school with a 4.528 weighted GPA. And yes, he’s a standout in the pool, too.
