Expect some “really benign weather” this week across San Diego County, but also unusually cool temperatures heading into next weekend, forecasters say. Weak onshore flow will prevail all week, according to the National Weather Service. That is expected to help the marine layer deepen, with low clouds each night and morning at the coast early this week, plus in the valleys later in the week.

Early April showers are giving way to a warm, sunny weekend, and what looks set to become a warmer, drier rest of the month, forecasters say. Weak Santa Ana winds will set in Saturday, bringing breezes, drying air and “the start to our significant warming trend,” National Weather Service meteorologist Alex Tardy said in a Friday afternoon briefing.

South County voters have been mailed their ballots and can start returning them in the special election for District 1 county supervisor. Ballots were mailed over the weekend, and drop boxes throughout the district opened this week. In-person voting has also begun at county election offices in Kearny Mesa, open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.Seven more vote centers will open March 29, and another 13 will be open April 8, the last day of the election.
