The amount of plastic litter found on beaches in Argyll and Bute has almost trebled in 30 years, a new report has revealed. The GRAB Trust has marked its 25th anniversary by releasing a comprehensive Beach Litter Report for the area. The report is compiled from The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) Beachwatch data (1994-2022) and provides a snapshot of the amount and types of litter polluting our beaches.

Sounds of trainers squeaking on polished floors are reminiscent of school PE days. Chatter and laughter in Urdu and Punjabi fill the room. The session is one of three that takes place weekly as part of The Feel Good Women’s Group.

A balance is needed between the importance of catering for the tourism industry and local housing needs. One of the largest employers in the islands and rural areas is the aquaculture sector.
