    Kraig Mott, who has studied and practiced karate for more than 30 years, is now offering classes in Okinawan Karate at the Methow Valley Community Center. As a teenager, Mott was drawn to martial arts practice after watching kung fu movies and “Batman” episodes on TV. He soon learned that karate is a demanding discipline requiring both mental and physical dedication. Although students often expect to master karate and quickly develop fighting prowess, “it doesn’t work that way,” said Mott.
