A federal judge has found Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier in civil contempt for not properly communicating a court order to police agencies, which halted the enforcement of a state immigration law. The law in question would have created state crimes for immigrants lacking permanent legal status entering or reentering Florida. U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams initially placed a temporary restraining order on the law on April 4 and extended it on April 18.
