    A makeup artist from Sierra Leone has broken a 19-year-old world record for the most cosmetic makeovers in 24 hours by one artist. Mary Yongai, 26, completed 111 makeovers in total. Not only did she exceed her own personal target of 100, but she smashed the previous world record of 96, which was set by Indonesia’s Martha Tilaar in 2005.

    Respect for the Aged Day is a Japanese public holiday celebrated annually on 16 September to honour the country’s elderly citizens. Guinness World Records marked the occasion this year by visiting the world’s oldest living person, Tomiko Itooka (b. 23 May 1908). As of today, Tomiko is 116 years 116 days old. We presented her official GWR certificate to her at the nursing home in Ashiya, Hyōgo Prefecture, where she’s resided for the past five years.
