American City Business Journals is partnering with Morning Consult on the Metropolitan Consumer Sentiment Index. In Buffalo, the inaugural MCSI found a confidence level of 94.6, below the first-quarter national score of 96. Consumer confidence is lower in Buffalo than in nearly 40 other major metro areas in the United States.

Erie County's high-end deals dropped in February, but they remain at a five-year high for the month. The 136 transactions valued at $400,000 or more that closed last month were led by the Diocese of Buffalo's official sale of Christ the King Seminary to World Mission Society of God.

Michelle Cioci Adams, who has served as managing editor for the last four of her 11 years with Buffalo Business First, has been named editor-in-chief. President and Publisher John Tebeau announced the promotion today. Adams succeeds Donna Collins, who retires April 1 after more than 40 years with the paper.
