Aotearoa New Zealand has revealed that the Gagana Samoa is the most widely spoken Pacific language in the country with 110,541 speakers. This statistic released by Statistics NZ highlighted Samoa at the top compared to 11 other Pacific country languages. A Tongan pilot accused of rape is applying for a variation of bail so he can leave the country pending his hearing which is not until another five months. Mikaele Halafili also known as Mikaele Paea He Lotu Mateo is unable to leave the country because of a Departure Prohibition Order issued and granted by the Supreme Court in October this year.
