    Egypt has announced the “significant” discovery of three ancient tombs dating to the New Kingdom period (1550–1070 B.C.), found on the West Bank of Luxor in the Draa Abul Naga area. The latest discovery, first reported by the Associated Press, requires additional study, but all three tombs bear inscriptions with the names of the dead. One belonged to a man named Amum-em-Ipet, who worked in the estate of Amun during the Ramesside period, the 19th dynasty.

    The latest ancient Greek archaeological find to cause a stir is a Hellenistic marble workshop, discovered during a dig on Paros, part of the Cyclades island group in the Aegean Sea. You might not know Paros, but the island was renowned in antiquity for supplying much of the marble used to create Greece’s famed temples, monuments, and statues. The island’s quarries were particularly sought after due to the marble’s pure white color, semi-translucence, and fine grain.

    A giant Tiffany window is the latest treasure acquired by the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Ark., the deep-pocketed institution founded by Walmart heiress and philanthropist Alice Walton. The monumental stained-glass masterpiece, created by Tiffany Studios in 1917, is titled Mountain Landscape (Root Memorial Window).

Paul Getty Museum is unveiling Hercules and Omphale, a long-lost Artemisia Gentileschi painting nearly destroyed in the explosions that struck the Lebanese capital of Beirut in August 2020. Among the impacted cultural heritage sites was the 160-year-old Sursock Palace, where the roof partially collapsed, imperiling the Gentileschi and other historic works.
