    Saturday's sunshine helped guarantee the success of the Gorefield Show. It was its 62nd anniversary and it had an array of attractions, ring displays, fun and games for all ages. There was the ever-popular heavy horse show, which saw the magnificent animals parade in the ring for the crowds to admire and the judges to pick their winners. Children's races proved hugely popular with youngsters of all ages.

    North East Cambridgeshire MP Steve Barclay was joined by North West Norfolk MP James Wild at the ribbon-cutting ceremony held at the former Willows Pharmacy in Terrington St John - which has now become Terrington Pharmacy. Mina and KJ Patel have recently taken over the business in Old Church Road and decided to give it a new name. The pair were happy to welcome the MPs, who together cut the ribbon.

    Early speculation was that the aircraft had crashed into the field in Allen's Drove in Gorefield. However, it soon became apparent that the pilot had simply run out of the hot air needed to keep him skyward and that he had landed his aircraft safely. Images of the downed plane show it resting safely in a field of beet awaiting to be collected on a trailer and returned to Saltby near Grantham, where it started its flight.

    The two-day event is set to kick off on Saturday with the hugely popular walking parade from outside the council chambers in Church Lane. This year, a public vote saw "TV cartoon characters" chosen as the theme, and the festival committee and Chatteris Town Council are hoping that will give everyone plenty to choose from.

    Rob Skoulding, a former town mayor who rejoined March Town Council last year, was presented with the honour at this month's meeting, with current mayor Andrew Woollard making the presentation. It was during his firstĀ timeĀ as mayor in 2014/2015 that Mr Skoulding, with the support of the Cambs Times launched his 'Have a Heart' campaign - it had just one aim to raise money to provide March with as many life-saving defibrillators as possible.
