    As the holiday season rapidly approaches, three local coffee shops: Mad Goat Coffee, Caffé Bene and Espresso Royale have come out with their seasonal menus. Each cafe brings something unique to its menus, with the three menus creating a delightful array of seasonal treats and beverages. Over the past week, I visited these businesses and tried one item from each seasonal menu. I will be giving my reviews on the beverages that I tried, as well as an overview of each place’s seasonal menu.

    On Sunday, Nov. 3, the clocks in the United States turned back one hour as daylight savings time came to an end for the winter. Even though we gain an extra hour of sleep, the transition can disrupt our lives — particularly those of students. The time change often disrupts routines and can have significant effects on mental health, as well as academic performance and attendance. Counselors and professors at Parkland College have seen how the time change has adverse effects on students.

    In the span of just two weeks, Hurricanes Helene and Milton have become a deadly disaster spanning six states: Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee. Hurricane Helene made landfall on Sept. 26, 2024. It brought waves of up to 7 feet and, according to the National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service, winds of 140 mph.

    ***Warning: this article contains spoilers***On Oct. 3, 2024, Parkland Theatre held the opening night of its first show of the season, “12 Angry Jurors.” The production, a straight play explores the huge responsibility faced by 12 people as they consider the guilt or innocence of a young man accused of murder. The play consists of 12 jurors as the actors, with no showing of the person on trial or the judge.
