The Tampa Bay Lightning are acquiring forwards Yanni Gourde and Oliver Bjorkstrand from the Seattle Kraken for a package that includes two first-round picks, league sources said Wednesday. Tampa Bay will send Seattle 2026 and 2027 first-round picks, a 2025 second-round pick (the Toronto Maple Leafs’ pick) and forward Michael Eyssimont. The Kraken will also send the Lightning a 2026 fifth-round pick.

OTTAWA - Linards Feldbergs could barely stop smiling throughout the World Juniors. It started when Latvia upset Canada 3-2 in the preliminary round, which set off alarm bells throughout the host country. Feldbergs stopped 55 of 57 shots through regulation and overtime and then remained perfect through an eight-round shootout. People across the hockey world were supportive of his performance, including Carey Price, who tweeted about Feldbergs. Feldbergs, wow. Well done kid. On to the next one boys.

We've reached the fourth day of the 2025 World Juniors with a full slate of games ahead, including an opportunity for redemption. Canada returns to action for the first time since their stunning upset loss to Latvia on Friday. They'll be without defenseman Matthew Schaefer, who reportedly suffered a broken clavicle in the loss against the Latvians and may require surgery. Defender Sawyer Mynio will take his place. The Dallas Stars have signed goaltender Jake Oettinger to an eight-year, $66 million contract extension, Stars general manager Jim Nill announced Thursday. The contract runs through the 2032-33 season and carries an average annual value of $8.25 million. Oettinger has a 116-48-23 record with a .914 save percentage, a 2.49 goals-against average and 11 shutouts in 196 regular-season games with the Stars.
