What does freedom mean to you? Thanks for being a member of City Paper! That’s the question at the heart of a new art installation landing on the National Mall for Trans Pride on May 17. Led by the ACLU, the Freedom To Be Monument is the brainchild of Gillian Branstetter, a transgender advocate and communication strategist for the ACLU’s LGBTQ Project.

Thanks for being a member of City Paper! Championing the city’s art scene, its makers, and its movers and its shakers is a large part of my job as arts editor. Capital Fringe began in 2005 and sought to celebrate cultural diversity, remove barriers to art, advance unknown artists, and enhance D.C.’s theater scene.

Did you know that local DC arts coverage is dwindling? Did you know that @wcp posts at least one art piece every day? If you appreciate our theater reviews and insight, local music coverage, book spotlights, film reviews, and more plz consider donating. Every dollar counts.
