Thanks for being a member of City Paper! Championing the city’s art scene, its makers, and its movers and its shakers is a large part of my job as arts editor. The long hours, the revisions, and the juggling act required of a small staff with big dreams are all worth it every time someone tells me one of our profiles introduced them to a new artist or a friend visits an exhibit or play opening that we suggested.

Thanks for being a member of City Paper! Washington may fall well short of New York’s sprawling repertory and festival scene. Thanks for being a member of City Paper! Casey Jay Andrews has thought a lot about shooting stars. The British playwright used to not know if she’d ever seen one, but she also assumed this wasn’t uncommon—certainly the celestial occurrence couldn’t be commonplace. But if there’s one thing she’s learned from putting on productions of her show Oh My Heart, Oh My Home, it’s that a lot of people actually have seen a shooting star.
