President Donald Trump has chosen a veteran Minneapolis commercial litigator and University of Minnesota Law School graduate as his pick for Minnesota's top federal prosecutor. Daniel Rosen, of Rosen LLC, arose as Trump's choice as the next U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota on Wednesday. Rosen was among three candidates recommended by Minnesota's Republican congressional delegation to take over the office after former U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger's departure last year.

A U.S. district judge has ordered the release of a Minnesota State University student from Bangladesh who was detained in late March by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, determining that he was targeted for his social media posts. Mohammed Hoque, 20, had been held in the Freeborn County jail in Albert Lea since his arrest March 28 in front of his parents while returning to his Mankato home from a coding class.

By Sarah Nelson Abdiaziz Farah, 36, of Savage was one of five defendants charged in the juror bribery case and pleaded not guilty last year to the three federal counts. In a filing Tuesday, he notified the court of his intent to change his plea at a hearing June 4. The move comes just days after Abdiaziz Farah's brother, Said Farah, 42, of Minneapolis, also notified the court of his intent to change his plea in the bribery case.

Since late March, Hoque and two other international students from Minnesotan universities placed in federal immigration custody have argued against their removal from the country in court. Aditya Wahyu Harsono of Indonesia was arrested March 27 at his workplace.

By Sarah Nelson A Minneapolis man acquitted by a federal jury in last year's Feeding Our Future fraud case but later charged in an attempted bribe of a juror filed a notice in U.S. District Court on Friday that he intends to change his not guilty plea this month in the bribe case. Said Shafii Farah was one of five people charged, along with his two brothers, in the juror bribery case last year. He pleaded not guilty last year to three federal charges but will change his plea at a hearing May 14.
