Down both of their All-Region 3AAAAAA selections in Sloan Vick and Harper Smith to start the game, and without Hope Mitchell by the end of the first quarter, the Rams romped the Hoyas 76-31 to advance to the second round. With the win, the Rams (27-1) will host the winner of Parkview and Lambert in the Sweet 16 later this week.

    POWDER SPRINGS -- The Hillgrove girls basketball team has warm-up shirts which have the motto "Locked in" on the back. That's exactly what the Hawks were Tuesday night against South Gwinnett in the opening round of the Class AAAAA state playoffs. Hillgrove opened the game on a 16-1 run over the first five minutes and rolled to a 71-44 victory. The win means the Hawks (21-7) will play Brookwood in the second round on Friday.

    North Cobb’s Ronan An and Osborne’s Sandra DeSouza came home as state champions after winning titles at the state wrestling tournament held at the Macon Coliseum over the weekend. An completed an undefeated season finishing 54-0 by pinning his first three opponents and then beating Buford’s Conor McCloskey by a 6-1 decision in the Class AAAAAA 215-pound championship match.
