Fortune 100 Company Plans $1B Data Center in Conway

The Conway City Council has approved a memorandum of understanding with an unnamed Fortune 100 company to build a $1 billion, 300,000-SF data center on the city’s southwest side. The data center would represent the largest capital investment in Conway’s history, according to Jamie Gates, executive vice president of the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce/Conway Development Corp. “This project is at a historic scale for us,” he said.
Red Door to Close for 2025 for 'Extensive' Renovations

Little Rock restaurant Red Door is closing April 1 for “extensive” renovations, with plans to reopen in early 2026, owner Remolinos Group LLC announced Tuesday. A spokesperson for Remolinos Group said the restaurant will undergo “a series of thoughtful changes” with the goal of elevating the overall dining experience. “All areas of the property will be refreshed to improve the atmosphere for dining and events alike,” the spokesperson said. Red Door’s menu will be updated, as well.
Insurance Agencies The River Co. and Rogers Insurance to Merge and Rebrand

Insurance agencies The River Co. of Heber Springs and Rogers Insurance Agency Inc. of Rogers are merging in a deal that would create one of the largest insurance firms in the state by employee count. Company leaders told Arkansas Business that the combined entity, which will be known as ANKR, will have expanded capabilities, more than 80 employees and be licensed to operate in more than 40 states. The integration is expected to be completed by 2026.

William Miller resigned as CFO of Envirotech Vehicles Inc. of Osceola (Nasdaq: EVTV) on Jan. 20 after holding the role for less than a month, extending the company’s cycle of frequent turnover at the position. The company reported Miller’s resignation in an SEC filing. No reason was given for his departure. Miller did not immediately respond to requests for comment Monday morning. Jason Maddox, president of Envirotech, was named interim CFO.

Specialty steel wire manufacturer Tokusen USA Inc. is closing its facility in Conway after 34 years amid shifting market conditions and international trade pressures. The closure is set for mid-March. About 200 to 250 workers are losing their jobs. The company’s workforce is the seventh-largest among manufacturers in Faulkner County. Tokusen, a subsidiary of Tokusen Koyo Co. Ltd. of Ono, Japan, did not immediately respond to questions about the closure.
Goodwill Plans 20,000-SF Retail Center in West Little Rock

Goodwill Industries of Arkansas is planning a 20,000-SF retail center in west Little Rock that would be the charitable organization’s first purpose-built facility in the state. The flagship project at 610 Kirk Rd. is expected to cost $4 million-$6 million and create 30-50 jobs, CEO Brian Marsh said in an interview with Arkansas Business. Goodwill in November purchased the 0.56-acre parcel north of Chenal Parkway for $365,000 from the William and Bobbie Griggs Revocable Trust.

Historic Little Rock catfish restaurant Lassis Inn will remain in the hands of longtime owner Elihue Washington Jr. after a legal dispute with a would-be buyer. Washington filed suit in July to void the sale of the restaurant to Kristian Nelson after learning about Nelson’s history of fraud. A judge this month approved a joint motion to dismiss the suit with prejudice, meaning it can’t be refiled, after Washington and Nelson agreed to settle the matter out of court.
