On 30 June 2024, the number of student visa holders living in Australia was 608,262. This was higher than in any other year on record, surpassing the previous record of 568,753 in 2023 by approximately 7 per cent. Australia’s estimated resident population had only increased by 2 per cent over the same period from 26.65 million to 27.20 million. The number of international students studying in Australia reached a record high in 2024.
