ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — The IceHogs will be spending Mother’s Day in Milwaukee. They’ll be playing a winner-take-all game five in their Calder Cup Playoff Series against the Milwaukee Admirals. The Hogs dropped a second-straight game on home ice Friday night falling to the Admirals 3-2. The Hogs led 2-1 in after the first period following goals by Jackson Cates and Aidan Thompson, but they were blanked in the second and third periods.

BELOIT, WI (WTVO/WQRF) — The Beloit Sky Carp are a high-Class A minor league baseball affiliate of the Miami Marlins, but they now have a close bond with a well-known college football coach. University of Kansas head coach Lance Leipold and his wife Kelly have become minority owners in the Sky Carp. They are close friends with Sky Carp majority owners Quint and Rishy Studer. They’re all connected to the University of Wisconsin Whitewater.

ROCKORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — This school year isn’t over, and they’re already looking ahead to next year at Rockford Christian. The Royal Lions have filled several openings in their athletics programs. Thursday evening, they met for a vision planning session. Current girls’ head basketball coach Ted Lawver led the session. He is also taking on the job of RC’s athletic director. He will be assisted next year by Jason Rager, the father of Pecatonica girls’ basketball star Elaina Rager.
