We have a mix of sun and clouds out there at this late morning hour as of 10:40AM, and ice should be melting away on the roadways at this point. Other than Fort Payne and Albertville, all readings across the state at 10AM were above freezing, ranging from the lower 30s to the upper 30s. Demopolis and Eufaula are the warm spots at 39 degrees. Birmingham was at 36 degrees. The satellite image actually picks up the snow cover that remains over North Alabama.

*** Video Coming Shortly ***After a frigid and snow-covered day for the northern half of the state, and cold and dreary conditions in the south, we return to a dry pattern today in Alabama. We may still have some icy conditions on roadways, and for that reason, NWS Huntsville has their North Alabama counties in a Winter Weather Advisory until 10AM this morning. The good news is that we will see afternoon highs above freezing, reaching the mid 30s to the upper 40s across the state.

Gusty winds can be expected, and we still cannot rule out a brief spin up tornado along and west of I-65. There is a tornado warning in effect for portions of Jasper and Clarke counties in southeastern Mississippi.
