BEVERLY, MA — Two North Shore students were awarded scholarships through the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. The Beverly and Salem students were among 48 students honored statewide at the MassCPAs' Connect 2025 event earlier this month. Beverly’s William Ryan, who attends Beverly High School, earned the Emerging Scholar Award. Salem's Jake Spignese, who attends Babson College, earned the The CRR, LPP — Gregory T. Beth Shribman is a longtime participant in the annual Jimmy Fund Walk, but this year the effort hits close to home as she joins Samantha Weiss, JJ's mother, on Team JJ after the boy was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma last year.

SALEM, MA — A US Navy Seaman from Salem who served for eight years before being killed during a Japanese attack off the coast of Australia during World War II will be honored with the naming of a veterans square on the corner of English and Cousins Streets on Memorial Day. The public is invited to the ceremony on May 26 at 11 a.m. in honor of US Navy Seaman 1st Class Anthony Frank Pydynkowski. He served for six years years in the United States Marine Corps before enlisting in the US Navy in 1940.

SALEM, MA — A man was found suffering from what were described as non-life-threatening injuries after police responded to reports of "shots fired" in the area of 12 Pope Street on Friday night. Salem police said a gun was recovered and that they encountered the injured man during their investigation. Police did not reveal the nature of the person's injuries or what crimes were being investigated.

The parade will start at the Holten Richmond Middle School at about 9 a.m. on May 26 and follow its customary route, weather permitting. LYNNFIELD, MA — The 55-year-old Lynnfield man found dead of what the Essex County District Attorney's Office said was an "apparent homicide" has been identified. Lynnfield Police Chief and Essex DA Paul Tucker said Timothy O'Neil, 55, was found suffering from what the police called "trauma" at a home on Lookout Terrace at about 8:30 p.m. on Friday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

BEVERLY, MA — More than two dozen North Shore writers are expected to attend next week's Beverly Public Library Local Author Fair. The fair is set for May 18 from 2 to 4 p.m.The authors will share their work: poetry, fiction, nonfiction, teen, and children's literature. There will be an opportunity to purchase books directly from the authors. The library will also host a Fixit Clinic on June 7 from noon to 3 p.m. to gain help on simple repairs to salvage items that might otherwise be discarded.
