A few days ago, it looked like Easter was shaping up to be a complete washout. But thankfully, the latest computer models have taken a more optimistic turn. The heaviest rain now looks set to stay to our west, affecting parts of Wales and Ireland instead.

While April and May can have some lovely warm weather, it equally can still have some cold blasts and snow – although you hope that these become a bit less potent the further on in spring we go. There’s always an eager rush to the garden centres as soon as the first bit of warmth hits, and I’ve seen it happen so many times over the years. The excitement is quickly followed by a severe frost, leaving those freshly-bought bedding plants looking droopy and a little upset.

Scotland has had its hottest day of the year so far after 22.7C was recorded in Aboyne. That breaks the previous high of 20.9C in Tyndrum on April 8. It’s started to feel like the sunshine might never end – especially in the west, where some areas have basked in wall-to-wall blue skies for over a week. While the east has seen plenty of sunshine too, the easterly airflow off the North Sea has kept things cooler.

Thursday is set to be Scotland’s warmest day of the year so far with temperatures set to soar to 23C. It’s started to feel like the sunshine might never end – especially in the west, where some areas have basked in wall-to-wall blue skies for over a week. While the east has seen plenty of sunshine too, the easterly airflow off the North Sea has kept things cooler.

Temperatures could soar to 22C on Scotland’s warmest day of the year so far. It’s started to feel like the sunshine might never end—especially in the west, where some areas have enjoyed wall-to-wall blue skies for over a week. While the east has seen plenty of sunshine too, the easterly airflow off the North Sea has kept things cooler. Along the coasts of Aberdeenshire, Angus, Fife, and East Lothian, temperatures have struggled to get out of single figures in some spots.
