The arrest of a high-ranking Tren de Aragua member marks another significant blow to the gang’s operations in Colombia and offers further proof that the protection it once received from Venezuelan authorities is long gone. On November 15, Colombian police, in collaboration with Venezuela’s criminal investigation unit (Cuerpo de Investigaciones Científicas, Penales y Criminalísticas – CICPC), apprehended Jeison Alexander Lorca Salazar, alias “Jeison Comino,” in Colombia’s Santander department.

Seeking spacecraft that can “maneuver without regret,” the U.S. Space Force is investing $35 million in a national research team led by the University of Michigan to develop a spacecraft with an onboard microreactor to produce electricity, with some of that electricity used for propulsion. But this spacecraft would not be solely dependent on nuclear electric propulsion—it would also feature a conventional chemical rocket to increase thrust when needed.

The massive recent seizure of cocaine precursor at Chile’s Arica port underscores its growing role as a trafficking hotspot for Bolivian drug networks. On November 5, Chilean officials revealed they had seized 43 metric tons of sodium carbonate, which authorities say could have been used to produce a similar amount of cocaine, and was shipped from Hong Kong and destined for landlocked Bolivia.
