HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — One local library receives a grant for construction. State leaders presented a $200,000 library construction grant to the Humboldt Public Library. The presentation took place near the end of the Governor’s Luncheon that’s a part of the West Tennessee Strawberry Festival. Funding will help cover the construction cost of a new 1,800-square-foot children’s department, including a new children’s materials section, children’s computers, storage room, and kitchen prep area.

HUNTINGDON, Tenn. — The Leapfrog Group recently awarded Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County with a “Straight A” hospital safety grade. The designation is awarded to hospitals that maintain an “A” grade for five or more consecutive grading cycles. Leapfrog assigns letter grades from A to F to general hospitals nationwide, based on more than 30 measures of patient safety. The group updates grades twice a year, in the spring and fall.
