After a round of severe weather on Wednesday, April 2nd produced 10 tornadoes in the WCIA viewing area, several rounds of steady showers delivered impressive amounts of rain over the following days. For some, the rain received over this 4-day stretch was more precipitation than they had received all of 2025 up until that stretch. Below are the rainfall reports that we received from viewers like you over this 4-day period. NOTE: Some of these CoCoRaHS reports came from areas outside of towns.

A G4 geomagnetic storm impacted Earth Thursday Night, leading to some GPS glitches as well as a number of vibrant Northern Lights snapshots. Although this phenomena appears to be a little more common in recent years, it is still very rare to get a strong enough storm for this display to bee seen all the way down here in Central Illinois.

Gibson City, Ill (WCIA) – Severe weather struck Central Illinois just after sunset on Thursday Night, causing extensive wind damage to communities in Eastern McLean and Southern Ford Counties. Numerous reports of large trees becoming uprooted, branches being tossed on the road, and downed powerlines have come in since the storms moved through, but it turns out some of this damage was caused by tornadoes.

On Friday, the National Weather Service in Lincoln conducted a damage survey and found that EF-1 tornado damage had been done mainly to grain bins south of the community of East Lynn.
