    Fondation Botnar has put forward funding alongside the World Health Organization (WHO) for boosting the health and wellbeing of young people.  The Swiss based philanthropy has committed CHF 8 million ($9.6 million) up to 2027, with the World Health Organization putting forward CHF 4.6 million ($5.5 million).     An overwhelming majority of nonprofit leaders in the US suffer from burnout as they ‘stretch to their breaking point’, in what has been described by one sector leader as the continuation of a ‘long ignored pandemic’.  According to new findings published by the Center for Effective Philanthropy, 90 per cent of nonprofit leaders in the US have reported burnout in the last year, with a similar percentage reporting that burnout is rife among their staff.

The law, which came into effect in 2014, mandates that businesses must provide 2 per cent of their average net profit from the last three years towards social initiatives.

The announcement has left the philanthropy sector catching its breath. While much of the reaction has come from the US and western philanthropy, commentary from the global majority has been somewhat lacking.
