Whitehall police say a mother who took her 1-year-old son from a supervised visit on Friday, May 23 —sparking a statewide Amber Alert — will be charged with abduction. Police recovered the boy, Kesean Bailey and took his 26-year-old mother, Kristin Bailey, into custody. Police did not say where they located the pair, but reported late afternoon on May 23 that the mother, who does not have legal custody of the child, will be criminally charged.

Four inmates are on the loose after escaping from a minimum-security correctional facility on Columbus' Southeast Side operated by the Franklin County court system and the facility's own governing board. The inmates reportedly broke a window to escape from the Franklin County Community Based Correctional Facility at 1745 Alum Creek Drive, according to Columbus police dispatch. The inmates were last seen heading toward northbound toward Frebis Avenue.

Columbus police have released body camera footage of a hostage situation that ended when a SWAT officer fatally shot the suspect after he pointed a gun at officers. Police responded on May 19, at 9:40 p.m. to a domestic violence situation in the 4400 block of Hampton Woods Court at the Easton Ridge Apartments complex on the city's Northeast Side. A 911 caller told police that she could hear the man, later identified as 37-year-old Jerry D.
