    A homeless man spat on a baby boy after a woman asked him to move for her pram. Aaron Richards, 43, has been ordered to pay compensation to the baby's mother following the incident in Plymouth. Prosecutor Alistair Verheijen told Deputy District Judge David Bolton at Plymouth Magistrates' Court that the mother was pushing her baby in a pram along Union Street at around 12.30pm on November 1, 2024. She then came across Richards laying with his legs in the path.

    A road in Plymouth has been closed due to a police incident this afternoon. Plymouth Citybus has warned passenger of travel disruption, as Devon and Cornwall Police have closed Taunton Avenue in Whitleigh. As a result, because the company's buses cannot serve the road. Posting to X, Citybus said: "Police have closed Taunton Ave due to incident and our buses can not serve it, we are sorry for any inconvenience it may cause."     A man has pleaded guilty to murdering a university lecturer. Paul Antony Butler, 53, admitted murdering Claire Chick, 48, during an incident in Plymouth in January. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a bladed article. Butler, of Stangray Avenue, Plymouth, spoke only to confirm his name and enter his pleas during the hearing at Plymouth Crown Court. The defendant, who appeared on video link from prison, appeared to wipe a tear away from his face as he entered his pleas.
