    Move over, ladybugs. Delaware now has a state dragonfly: the blue dasher. The state Dragonfly Project, launched by Sen. Stephanie Hansen (D-Middletown) in March, asked students and teachers to learn about and vote for one of six dragonfly species: common green darner, dragonhunter, tiger spiketail, calico pennant, blue-faced meadow hawk and blue dasher. They chose the blue dasher, Hansen announced May 12, one of the most widespread dragonflies in the country.

    Demolition on Rehoboth Beach boardwalk buildings will continue for another month due to new structural concerns at the former Sirocco Motel. The Pennsylvania-based Onix Group is preparing to build the new One Rehoboth hotel on the boardwalk between Rehoboth and Baltimore avenues, which first requires the demolition of all the buildings fronting the boardwalk on that block, as well as the narrow Sirocco Motel and Kohr Bros. Frozen custard building behind them.

    After a truck full of young birds was left unattended at a Delaware post office for several days, staff and volunteers at First State Animal Center and SPCA in Camden went through boxes of thousands of baby chicks, looking for survivors.
