India, April 6 -- The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is planning to improve walkability around metro stations by widening footpaths and constructing foot overbridges (FOBs), among other measures. Plans to improve the multi-modal integration of metro corridors with other modes of transportation were discussed in a meeting last week between the MMRDA and Walking Project, a Mumbai-based pedestrian advocacy group.

MUMBAI: Your travel in a kaali-peeli auto rickshaw and taxi will get dearer from February 1. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority (MMRTA) on January 23 cleared a proposal for a fare hike in auto rickshaws and taxis, which was announced on Friday. There are 4,50,000 auto rickshaws in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), of which 300,000 are in Mumbai itself, while the taxis on city roads are around 15,000.

Meanwhile, the 29 lakh consumers of Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML) and 7.5 lakh consumers of Tata Power are set to benefit from year-on-year reductions in their power tariffs for the same period.
