Sources with the city tell WDSU the continued search for the remaining Orleans Parish jail escapees is costing the city of New Orleans hundreds of thousands.Apparently, expenses are upward of $200,000, including overtime for more than 200 OPSO and NOPD officers working extended shifts.This estimation on expenses does not include crime scene techs, real time crime center monitoring, civilian work and work by the district attorney.

The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office confirmed the water issues inside of the Orleans Justice Center have lingered into the week, saying it's led to flooding in different parts of the jail. Sheriff Susan Hutson said OPSO is currently working to bring in an external water supply to temporarily accommodate the plumbing failures inside the facility.

Families of several inmates at Orleans Parish jail contacted WDSU about conditions inside that are said to have deteriorated since the May 16 inmate escape. Many have been complaining about a lack of water off and on in the facility, causing issues with toilets. Those issues leading to toilets being stopped up and causing a bad smell, potentially leading to fights inside the facility.
