The New Orleans Police Department has arrested a man in connection with a shooting in the French Quarter on Sunday night that injured five people. On Monday, the NOPD announced that Christopher Parker of New Orleans was arrested in connection with the shooting. According to police, the shooting happened near the intersection of Decatur Street and Iberville Street around 8:30 p.m. at the close of the French Quarter Festival.

A New Orleans man accused of dismembering a woman in the Ninth Ward has had his trial pushed to later this year. Benjamin Beale was arrested in January 2022 in connection with the death of Julia Dardar. He is facing a second-degree murder charge in connection with her death. Beale's attorneys asked for more time to prepare for trial, which was supposed to start Monday. The judge granted the continuation and set a new trial date for Aug. 4.

The incident happened at 8 a.m. in the 1400 block of Desire Street. The boy was getting out of his mom's car to get onto the bus when he was struck. According to police, the child, a 6 year-old boy, was taken to an area hospital and later died.
