Blackburn with Darwen Council will spend the cash on renting an extra 250 slots at Blackburn’s the Mall shopping centre. The move is revealed in a report by borough environment boss Cllr Jim Smith. It says: “Brown Street car park is already over subscribed for permit parking and has capacity pressures. “From May 2025 or soon after, 137 car parking spaces will be unavailable for use on Brown Street due to work commencing on the development of the new town centre skills campus.

The Blackpool Pier Company has unveiled proposals to introduce two new fairground attractions along the Blackpool Promenade, in a bid to support the preservation of the resort's three historic piers. The rides would be adjacent to South Pier, and the company says they would make a financial contribution towards the upkeep of all of the iconic structures.

More than £4m of funding is set to be spent on improving bus services in Blackpool including upgrading shelters. The cash includes £2.5m of capital funding, and almost £1.7m of revenue funding allocated to the council by the Department for Transport. It will go towards implementing Blackpool’s Bus Service Improvement Plan for 2025/26 which sets out a number of priorities.
