Youngsters from the Fylde coast had their voices heard in Westminster when they joined a national rally to stand up for girls’ rights. Members of the United Youth Alliance (UYA), representing Blackpool, Wyre, and Fylde, joined peers from across the UK at the youth-led event which brought together 150 people including MPs, charity leaders, and youth advocates. The aim was to put the spotlight on the challenges facing girls across the UK today.

The cash includes £2.5m of capital funding, and almost £1.7m of revenue funding allocated to the council by the Department for Transport. It will go towards implementing Blackpool's Bus Service Improvement Plan for 2025/26 which sets out a number of priorities.

A derelict property on Blackpool Promenade could get a new lease of life if ambitious investment plans are given the go ahead. Blackpool-based developer Hamza Anwar is seeking planning permission for proposals which would see six new holiday flats provided in an empty building opposite the Metropole Hotel. The scheme would be part of his growing portfolio of developments through Prism Properties which has already upgraded a number of buildings in Blackpool.
