    Multiple cities in east and central Idaho set record high temperatures Saturday and forecast maps suggest the Gem State is in store for a torrid heat this summer. The 91 degree-high temp in Pocatello broke the previous record of 90 degrees set in 1997, according to the National Weather Service. In Challis, Stanley and Idaho Falls the mercury hadn’t been as high as it was on Saturday since 1986.

    A record number of Bannock County residents applied for the Property Tax Reduction (PTR) program in 2025, the Bannock County Assessor’s Office announced Monday. This year, 1,498 residents submitted applications this year, surpassing the previous high of 1,397 applicants in 2023. “I’m so pleased to see more people taking advantage of this program each year,” said Bannock County Assessor Anita Hymas.

    POCATELLO — The future of LA Semiconductor, one of the Gate City’s largest private employers, is in question after a recent lawsuit resulted in the appointment of a permanent receiver to oversee operations at the company's silicon wafer fabrication plant on Pocatello's east side. Rumors that the appointed receiver has initiated a process to enact significant layoffs, reducing a workforce of what was about 350 employees in 2022 by 25 percent, are beginning to swirl within the Pocatello community.
