    They showed up to honor the US Army. Some were dressed head-to-toe in Trump merch to support the man they’d voted for. Others came to protest what they saw as too much spectacle and expense (reportedly as much as $45 million) for a military parade that just happened to be on the president’s 79th birthday. The crowds were smaller than anticipated, but emotions still ran high. In at least one instance, those emotions seemed to result in a physical altercation.

    Hours before the first tanks started rolling in the America 250 military parade, thousands of people took to the streets throughout the Washington, DC, region to protest Donald Trump and his administration. From Silver Spring and Bethesda and Gaithersburg in Maryland, to Fairfax and Falls Church and Arlington in Virginia, people throughout the region came out for “No Kings Day of Defiiance” protests.

    The last time Washingtonian published a list of Great Places to Work was 2019—pre-Covid. The world was different then, of course, as was the way we worked. To state the obvious: Many of us went to offices five days a week. Now, while some Washingtonians are back in an office full-time, lots of them work a hybrid schedule and others are entirely remote.     What is being billed as the “longest LGBTQ+ mural in history,” at over half a mile, is currently being installed in DC on 15th Street, Northwest, between O and V streets—which, not coincidentally, happens to be where the WorldPride Parade will kick off on June 7.
