1. IntroductionIntracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) accounts for approximately 10–15% of all strokes and is associated with high morbidity and mortality (1–5). It has been reported that Asian populations (especially Japanese) experience ICH more frequently than Western populations (5, 6). Hypertension is the risk factor with the greatest influence on primary ICHs, and it is present in approx. 70% of patients who experience an ICH (7).
