Vancouverites came together on Sunday in grievance and commiseration following an attack at Lapu Lapu Day Festival that left 11 dead and many injured, described as the city’s "darkest day” by the interim police chief that morning.

    Scattered across the living room of a Bowen Island bungalow are trinkets from nearly every part of the world. Framed photographs hung on the wall show scenes from Asia. In the corner, a simple wooden bookshelf slumps under the weight of books ranging from memoirs to travel guides. The owner of this home is Kami Kanetsuka. It is difficult to describe her using typical career labels — writer, photojournalist or occasional secretary cannot begin to encompass the breadth of her experiences.

    On October 11, students gathered in the Great Hall to meet provincial candidates and hear their opinions on key policy issues at an AMS-hosted mixer and debate. Three candidates attended the debate, including Vancouver-Point Grey Green Party Candidate Dr. Devyani Singh, Port Coquitlam Green Party Candidate Adam Bremner-Akins and Vancouver-West End NDP Candidate Spencer Chandra Herbert.

Blue Chip was my wayfinding pointAnyone who knows anything about everything knows that nothing is real because everything is relative (science fact). Well, Blue Chip was my starting place. My cookie-filled checkpoint. The North Star, if stars could sell a variety of beverages, baked goods and casual breakfast and lunch items. Every location at UBC was mapped in my head… in relation to Blue Chip.
