A carpark worth $637,000 is set to make school drop-offs safer at one Top End school. The new nine-bay car park and “kiss and go” area at Nightcliff Middle School is set to be completed by February 2025. Principal Eva Kokkinomagoulos said the new car park would relieve congestion during peak drop-off and pick-up times and drive better connections between the school and the community. Ms Kokkinomagoulos said students would be safer and Nightcliff Rd would become more accessible as a result.

Rebecca Kopke-Bennett swapped classrooms for clinics when she launched her career as an audiologist this year. Ms Kopke-Bennett was the first to graduate from Charles Darwin University’s Master of Clinical Audiology at the start of 2024, leaving behind a two-decade legacy of work in the Territory’s education system. Her draw to the field stemmed not only from her work as a high school psychology teacher, but her son’s experience with hearing loss.

Police are searching for a 38-year-old man who escaped Alice Springs Correctional Services on Tuesday afternoon. An NT Police spokesperson said the man, Robin, was described as “Aboriginal, 180cm tall, with a medium build”. “He was last seen wearing a yellow T-shirt and jumper,” the spokesperson said. The spokesperson said the man fled from prison about 3.21pm Tuesday.
