Registration Open For Reno Bike Project Summer Camps

Registration is now open for Reno Bike Project's Major Taylor Ride Club Summer Camp. The camp is filled with bike riding adventures and other activities for ages¬†13-17. It costs $50 per week for each child. Scholarships are available upon request. There are three different camps on July 8-12, July 15-19, and July 22-26. Each one will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. There will also be an "Earn-A-Bike" camp from July 29-August 2.
Motorcyclist Dies in Early Morning Crash

The Reno Police Department says at 3:19 Saturday morning, first responders arrived at a crash involving a car and a motorcycle near the intersection of Ryland and High Streets. According to officials, the motorcycle rider died from their injuries at the scene. The person's identity has not yet been released. The other driver involved stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Reno Police say speed may have been a factor and they do not know if impairment was a factor.
Man Pleads Guilty for Shooting in South Lake Tahoe Hotel Last Year

According to the Douglas County District Attorney, Edgar Julian Delgado pleaded guilty to first degree murder with a deadly weapon following a shooting that took place at the Hard Rock Hotel $ Casino in South Lake Tahoe. There were two charges of carrying a firearm, but as part of the plea, the second charge will be dropped. Delgado's sentencing will take place on June 13. He faces up to 50 years in prison.
Bingo Night Benefits Lyon County Sheriff's Search and Rescue

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office is holding a bingo night tonight. Doors open at 4 p.m. and bingo starts at 5 p.m.. It will be at the Mason Valley Boys and Girls Club at 124 N. Main St. in Yerington. There will also be a concession stand serving snacks, drinks, and more. All funds raised at the event will benefit LCSO's "Project Life Vest: Save a Child's Life".
Green Waste Collection Sites Open This Weekend

Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue has two sites open for people to dispose of green waste on April 13 and 14. Nevada Division of Forestry Fire Station at 885 Eastlake Blvd. Lemmon Valley Station at 130 Nectar Street in RenoThey are open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days and the event is completely free.
Police Arrest Driver After Fleeing From Fatal Crash

The Reno Police Department says it was called to a crash involving two cars at the intersection of Kietzke Lane and Peckham Lane just before 4:30 a.m. on April 6. The only person in one of the cars was declared dead at the scene. Their name will not be released until the next of kin is notified. The occupants of the second car took off on foot. They were later found by police and the driver, 18-year-old Elmer Rueda-Linares, was arrested.

The Sierra is seeing a good amount of snow Sunday morning, with some light snow making its way down to the valley, too. Chain controls are in effect for mountain roads this morning, with a Winter Storm Warning in effect through 5 p.m. Sunday. That includes Mt. Rose Highway, State Route 28 along Lake Tahoe, US 50 in South Lake Tahoe, and State Route 89 from Emerald Bay to Truckee.

Carson City Traffic Stop Results in Four Arrests and Recovery of 119 Grams of Narcotics

The Carson City Special Enforcement team conducted a traffic stop yielding 119 grams of narcotics around 8 p.m. on March 16. Officers stopped a Mercedes sedan at College Parkway at Market Street. The occupants were asked to get out of the car but the passenger in the back refused at first. She finally got out and and dropped socks, that had a large amount of methamphetamine and fentanyl in them, from her dress.
