According to the CDC, the only other state that saw a rise in overdose deaths was South Dakota. The CDC reports across the nation, there were an estimated 30,000 fewer overdose deaths last year compared to 2023. Here in Nevada, we saw an increase of a little more than three percent.

NV Energy says over 8,000 people were impacted this morning, mostly in the Douglas and Washoe County areas. Luckily, most outages have been fixed and only a few customers are left to go. Paul Fremeau, meteorologist for NV Energy, says, "Wind is one of the biggest factors that can impact power outages. So, you can have damage to the equipment itself.
